In 2000 my son, Andrew, wanted a ferret for Christmas. At first I was hesitant to the idea because I knew I would be the one taking care of his new pet. Being the animal lover I am and a softy, we went to the pet store and saw the most precious little girl. It was love at first sight, she was a tiny chocolate girl, full of energy. I had been around ferrets as a teenager but was not very knowledgable on all their needs. After we brought this sweet little girl home, she let us know her name was Jasmine, Jazzy for short. I soon joined ferret forums and started researching. Learning they are social animals and love having a cuddle buddy, we then adopted Bear and then Sidney. Through Sidney I learned very fast about the horrible diseases and genetic issues many of these guys have. We lost Sidney when she was only a year and half old due to an intestinal mutation. From that moment on I made it my life mission to learn as much on their care, needs, pathology, and possible preventives. Sadly I also learned how so many of these babies are abused, neglected, un-wanted because some people view them as "high maintenance". This simply broke my heart and I knew I had to do something to help. In 2001 we opened our home to help save those un-wanted, neglected ferrets. I continued to educated myself threw my vet and to help educate new owners, and will continue to be part of the ferret community as long as I am able.

With this came large vet bills, more food, medicines, and other needs, with that, the need for more money coming in was increasingly important.

At that time I bought their bedding from pet stores, big mistake and waste of money. One or two washes they fell apart. Some pieces were made so tiny there was no room for more than one ferret or a big boy ferret. Most are made so poorly, how on earth could this be comfy for any animal. Then the cost was ridiculous for any owner. I found that most of my ferrets preferred to snuggle up in the blankets on the floors of their cage. This is how "The Ferret's Choice" got started. I took my imagination, several attempts to perfect the flaws and some wonderful ferrets to test the products. After their approval, I started sharing my bedding with other ferrets, donating to raffles, shelters and ferrets on the Giving Tree as Christmas gifts. After others received the bedding and found their ferrets loved it, and would only sleep in our hammys or other bedding item, I started receiving emails for more bedding.

That is when the light bulb went off, lol, what a great way to help raise money to help the rescued ferrets here and to give other ferrets top quality bedding that is comfy and will out last all the rest out there, at a great price. I strive to make my prices affordable, as being a shelter I know how hard it is to afford the every day care but we still want to spoil our ferrets with great bedding. Not only does the sale of bedding help our ferrets, our goal is to also help other ferrets in need. We donated to raffles to raise monies for shelters, or just donate bedding to shelters that need the extra bedding for new arrivals. Being a part of ferret community, is being a part of a BIG family were we help each other and share our love ferrets.

My bedding is my own unique design, no patterns from a store, just creative imagination. I let my guys show me what they prefer and that is what I go with. They have taught me so much through out the last 10 years, more than words can express.

All pieces are double and triple stitched for extra durability, made with quality flannel or cotton fabric, inner lined with half-inch quilt batting, and then lined with cozy fleece for extra comfort. They are made with removable hooks to prevent washer or dryer damage, and prevents damage to the bedding. Hooks can get caught in a washer or dryer and rip the bedding. I make custom sets for all cages or playpen. If you have a special print you want to use, you may send it to me, and yes this will cut the price some. Be creative, mix and match solids and prints, dots and stripes. I have a ton of fabric to choose from, over a hundred prints. Not all are listed on my website, simply not enough room.
